Greuby Faience Art Pottery Bird Tile-c1910-Arts and Crafts/Art Deco

An unbelievable work of art now available today, this wonderful Grueby Faience Tile!!  The selection of colors are matched by the wonderful application of the glaze creating a curdled affect especially seen in the green border surrounding the center bird. The thought is that this particular tile was produced as an accent tile in a display possibly for a large New England mansion or a public building such as a carriage station. It is unmarked but guaranteed original Greuby Faience. I do not believe this tile was ever installed, however, since there is really no indication of original cement in the crevices/divots on the back.  The tile measures approximately 12 1/4” by 8” and 1 1/2” thick. I would have to rate this tile as in factory original condition with no damage or repairs noted. I did notice a tiny fleck on the back rim as pictured which I feel is immaterial, mentioned for accuracy sake.  There is also a minor rough area on one of the black “bubbles“ on the side which appears to be an unglazed spot under magnification-it is really a not a problem or detriment to this tile. A fantastic item for the astute collector; one of which I most likely will never see again.  Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description.
